PICTURE TO COME SOON…..Karen has worked in the field of ophthalmology for over 23 years, actually beginning her ophthalmic career with Dr. Scott McKnight. She has had exceptional training in all sub-specialty areas of ophthalmology, throughout her career. Although most of her career was spent in the Kansas City area, she moved her family to Interior Alaska for 7.5 years in order to provide her children with a different lifestyle and a different appreciation for life. During that time, her seemingly endless knowledge and experience in eye care, coupled with ceaseless hard work and exceptional detail-orientation, she quickly became the surgical coordinator/technician and clinical manager for the clinic that she worked for there. She has always displayed an unwavering love and enthusiasm for the eye care field and has an uncanny knack for truly getting to know her patients. After suffering a devastating tragedy in her life, she returned to Kansas City to be with her family. She has returned to her home town of Polo, MO....Because you can take a girl out of the country, but you can't take the country out of the girl. When not working, Karen takes every available opportunity to go on as many adventures as possible. She is an avid reader, and can always be found with a book close at hand, whether at home, in the garden, hiking, fishing, camping, or taking a road trip there will always be a book nearby. She has learned to make every moment, of every day count, and always strives to live her life to the fullest each and every day. She was once told by her Dad, that if she wanted to be to the best, than she needed to work for the best, because they would teach you everything you would ever want to learn. She took this advice to heart and when she returned to Kansas City, she completed the "full circle" of her life by finishing her ophthalmology career where she first began.... With the best. Once again, Karen has become a member of McKnight Eye Centers.
